<p>A large Victorian brass bound mahogany writing slope with original fitted interior c.1850. The figured mahogany veneered exterior with brass reinforced corners, key escutcheon and engraved cartouche to the centre of the top. The box opening and folding over to form a writing surface with black tooled leather covered surface, plus each side opening to reveal an internal storage compartment. The larger compartment with three concealed drawers behind a panel, which is removed by a hidden release catch. Shallow drawer set below, which is secured shut with a locking pin and is only accessible when the slope is open. Pen and ink tray to one end of the interior with original ink bottle and pen tray to the centre. Working Bramah lock without key.  Presented in superb original condition with a deep shine and original patina. Measures 20" wide x 10.5" deep x 7.25" high and opens out with writing slope to 21" deep. Stock number CS404.</p>
