<p>A fine quality William IV figured mahogany double fusee bracket clock with engraved silvered dial by Caleb Chitty of Kennington, London c.1830. The figured mahogany case with arched top, carved applied decoration to the front and rope twist design trim to the corners. Figured veneered panel to the base with apron foot below and small brass bun feet to the underside. Each side with scale design sound frets with silk located behind the fretwork and a glazed hinged door to the rear. Engraved silvered dial with Roman numerals and the makers name along with the original blued steel hands. Cast glazed bezel with key release catch sat over the top. The original double fusee movement with anchor escapement and hour striking on a bell. Presented in superb original condition with a rich colour and patina, fully serviced and working. Caleb Chitty is recorded as being apprentice to Richard Powis in Rosamond St, Clerkenwell and is noted as a maker of fine quality bracket clocks between 1830 and 1837.
