<p>A rare late Victorian solid ash and leather game bird carrier c.1900. The slot for holding game is cut out along the centre of the ash wood base with a larger circular hole at one end. The hole has a cast brass hinged snap opening cover on one side, which lifts up to allow the birds feet through and slide them along the slot in the wood. Original leather carrying strap with ash bar to the centre on one side of the leather. Presented in excellent original condition with a rich patina. Measures 18" long x 2" wide x 0.5" deep at the base, strap handle measures 22" long from end to end. Stock number 43320.</p>
