<p>An original oil on board, 'Autumn' by Dorothea Sharp (1873 - 1955), depicting children feeding the birds in an Autumn setting. Painted in typical Sharp style with large brush strokes and depicting young children; a common subject of her paintings. In this work a young boy and girl feed birds with autumnal leaves predominant in the background; superbly detailed, very colourful and with great depth. Signed by the artist to the bottom left and entitled to the rear 'Autumn'. </p>
<p>Dorothea Sharp trained to be an artist from the age of 21 and was inspired having seen the work of Monet in Paris. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artist along with many others. She was regarded by many as the greatest living artist of her time. Today she has become one of the big names in the art world, her impressionist style suiting both traditional and modern settings. This work presented in superb condition and set in a quality timber gilt frame. Measures 24" wide x 28" high including the frame, canvas measures 16" wide x 20" high. Stock number BA148.</p>
