<p>An early Moorcroft pomegranate pattern lidded Arts & Crafts style biscuit box and cover with rare soft green background c.1912. The square base with twin angular loop handles to the sides, matching lid to the top with strap loop handle to the centre. The sides of the box decorated with a continuous band of tube lined pomegranates set against a background of leaves and berries; matching decoration to the lid. The pomegranates painted in deep reds, the berries in reds and purples and the leaves in soft ochre tones. Rare laurel green background with tones of blue to the edges of the lid. Signed William Moorcroft to the base with no factory impressions typical of a very early piece from Moorcroft's Burslem factory. Presented in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Measures 5" square x 7" wide at the handles x 7" high. Stock number 42353.</p>
