PIERRE JULES MENE (1810-1879), Stag and Doe (France, c. 1850). P.J. Mene dedicated himself to the painstaking task of casting and chiseling his own bronzes, working in his own foundry.

This model was one of six shown at the Salon of 1850. It captures the moment the stag and doe are disturbed by a noise or movement perfectly in vivid detail and is a finely cast miniature. Bronze signed : PJ Mene. Dimensions: 18.00cm wide, 9.00cm high, 13.00cm deep, (7.09 inches wide, 3.54 inches high, 5.12 inches deep).
