Cabinet Plate by Reginald Johnson, Studio Potter
A simply stunning handpainted and richly gildedcabinet plate from the studio of Master Potter,
Reginald Johnson, who, after joining Royal Doulton
in 1923, aged just 14, was the only student to
receive direct tuition from the company's renowned
Art Director, Charles J. Noke; in due course
progressing to become Director of Design at
Paragon China before setting up his own studio
pottery. This piece superbly decorated in a soft
palette of greens and reds, and depicting sprays
of the Paphiopedilum Insigne's orchid within a
heavily gilded cabochon border, the reverse signed
in the Artist's hand, "Paphiopedilum Insigne's by
Studio Potter Reginald Johnson". Width : 10.50
